Valentine’s Day Preparation for Success.
6 Valentine’s Day Retail Ideas to Win Over Your Customers’ Hearts
Happy (almost) Valentine's Day, Spa Boutiques! Since the day of affection is upon us, I believe it's time to remind us about what you and your teams can do to spread the love. Our Spas don't belong to the flowers or gift industry, but there are great ways to point out your V-Day spirit in your retail offering.
As you'll see below, there are many experiences you and your team can create around Valentine's Day to celebrate with your customers and staff and to inspire them. From promotion ideas to effective campaigns, discover some tactics to make the romantic day of the year a profitable one for your Spa & Wellness operation.
In most countries, February 14th is undoubtedly one of the busiest days in the year for Spas. However, to make it also one of the most profitable ones or more profitable year over year requires some preparation. Success does not happen by coincidence but needs some strategic planning.
The six insights below will support your goal to optimize your Spa’s success on the day of love:
Come up with winning Valentine’s Day promotion ideas. For ultimate results, invest some time thinking about your goals, products, and customers when crafting your offer. I have always loved to do this together with our marketing and PR team.
Dedicate a special section on your Spa Boutique’s shelves for Valentine’s Day. Create an eye-catcher. Don’t get necessary large quantities in. However, an eye-catcher shelf draws guests into the boutique, raising the probability of leaving with a purchase.
Lead shoppers to the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. With your retail mindset, you need to ensure that your guests find the right present. This starts by understanding the tastes and preferences of your clients. Throughout the year, please speak with your loyal guests and make sure you know what they want and then make your merchandise purchases accordingly.
What we have seen working too are gift guides. Consider creating retail gift guides tailored to the day of love for different categories (i.e., “For Him” or “For Her), budget (i.e., “Gifts under $25, $50, 100”). On Instagram, you can do this for free and in minutes.
Don’t forget about people’s pets. In some parts of the world, this has become a trend. According to the National Retail Federation, “[In 2020,] 27 percent of those celebrating say they are buying gifts for their pets, up from 17 percent in 2010. Surprisingly, the trend is not just being driven by younger consumers like millennials and Gen Zers; spending on gifts for pets has grown among all shoppers under the age of 55.” We can expect this trend to continue in 2022 and beyond. Even wellness brands have started offering now gifts for our furry friends.
Hold an event! February gives you a great excuse to throw a party. This could be a customer appreciation event, and treat your best guests to a free vendor event with food and a good time? Your vendors could offer special promotions, and you continue strengthening the bond with your most loyal guests.
Encourage customers to treat themselves. Self-love is a fantastic angle for Valentine’s Day. If you don’t have romantic gifts in stock, encourage your guest to purchase products for themselves instead. Some retail stores sent emails promoting their offering, enabling their clients to give themselves a well-deserved treat in the boutique or through treatments.
And I want to add one BONUS:
Give your employees a Valentine’s Day treat! Offer them something to show your appreciation. Doing so will not only delight them, but you can bet that they’ll be so pleased, they’ll pass the love along to your guests. This attention does not have to be expensive and could even be one chocolate with a note from you. Be creative!
Implementing all or a few of these tactics will support your business to flourish on the day of love in a way that guests will remember.
I am wishing you all already today a profitable Valentine’s Day filled with love!
